LUXE Models FAQs

There are plenty of questions which LUXE Models are often asked. You can find help and advice on the main LUXE Models site, but here are some of the genuine FAQs.

Is LUXE Models an agency?

LUXE Models is NOT an agency and does not directly find models work. We help aspiring models take the first few steps to break into the modelling industry and put you in a confident position to start approaching the right agencies with the right information. Find out some of the most common mistakes made by aspiring models or see a full list of our services on the LUXE Models site

Do I need to pay for my portfolio with LUXE Models?

LUXE Models is not a free service, and you may have to leave a deposit for a portfolio shoot at Kube Studios. We offer professional services and packages start at £299. You can then add an assortment of promotional goods, which have an influence on the total price. We ask all clients to come prepared to make a decision on the day to ensure the process is as smooth as possible.

Do I need a modelling portfolio?

Your portfolio is effectively your modelling CV. Use it as an excuse to show your strengths and versatility. It will show your full potential as a model to all clients and agencies. You will be hired based on your modelling portfolio, so having a professional portfolio will put you in a better position to find work and gain the attention of modelling agencies.

Do I need professional images to approach agencies?

You will always need professional images to market yourself as a model, however there are some companies and agencies that will request natural images, as well as professional images before making a decision.

Do model agencies guarantee work?

There is never any guarantee in the modelling industry. Even if you’re signed up by an agency, the creative decision makers will choose who they want for each shoot and it will depend if your look is the right one for the job. Agencies will help as they can represent and market you, but that’s only one part of the selection phase.

How long will it take for me to get a modelling job?

There is no definitive answer to this question, as again it depends on what the clients are looking for. There are many stories which show models working 1-3 months after they sign up, but many factors need to be considered including new trends, fashions and how competitive the market is at that moment in time. When starting out, modelling should be seen as a hobby rather than a career.

How much do models get paid?

Rates for models can really fluctuate. Some rates can be hourly, others daily. Some agencies take a percentage from this depending on your success. If this is the case, it will all be outlined in your contract. Make sure you keep tabs on exactly what the guidelines state, and keep track of your earnings.

Do I have to travel?

Modelling can involve traveling depending on the location of shoots and castings. Usually your agent will arrange your travel, but sometimes it may be up to you to arrange. Modelling can take you places all around the world, but it takes a lot of time and effort.

Would modelling affect my studies?

Agencies will represent you and find work; it is up to you to decide which castings and shoots you would like to attend. Do not be afraid to say no. If you are in full time education, your agency should be aware of this and will only get into contact with you when you’re able to take the call.  Your studies should therefore not be disrupted and should always take priority.

Can I join more than one agency?

Most models within the industry do not get exclusivity contracts – they work on a freelance basis. This can have its benefits because it means they are able to work with more than one agency. Again, you should check the contract before joining an agency and be aware of exactly where you stand.

What shape or size do I have to be?

Nowadays, there is no right or wrong shape or style in the modelling industry. It’s important to be realistic and approach the correct agencies with the right style of portfolio. Modelling does not necessarily just involve walking up and down the catwalk, and there are now various categories of jobs available including foot modelling and hand modelling. LUXE Models can help you develop your portfolio whatever size or shape you are and whichever area of modelling you wish to explore.

Is a tattoo acceptable in the modelling industry?

Tattoos are becoming more and more acceptable in today’s society. Depending on their size and location, they may define your category. Tattoos will not necessarily hold you back from modelling, but they may not have a positive impact either. It generally depends on the type of modelling you have an interest in and the size/location of your tattoo.
